Holidays are a great time for maths skills like:
- telling the time
- reading timetables
- looking at maps and plans
- creating maps and plans
- solving real life maths problems (eg it is 25km to Sunnyvale from home, then 46 km from Sunnyvale to Winterbotham. How far will we travel to get to Winterbotham? If we go 50 km an hour, how long should it take us to get there?)
- counting (and spending!) money
- measuring for baking
- measuring for craft activities
- creating patterns using tessellation, rotation, reflection, translation
When you play board games always use two dice, or even three.
Teach your cousins to play Buzz Bar then have a family tournament.
